PA Model Library Curriculum Update Training Registration
The Model Curriculum for Learners in PA School Libraries:
How Will You Adopt It or Adapt It to Work for You?

Two Sequential Virtual Training Sessions for PA School Librarians
Co-Sponsored by:
Pennsylvania School Librarians Association (PSLA) and University of Pittsburgh School Library Certification Program

A team of school librarians and educators have redesigned and updated The Model Curriculum for PA School Library Programs of 2012-14.  The new Model Curriculum Update provides you with an information and digital literacy curriculum that aligns with five sets of PA Academic Standards, the AASL Framework for Learners, and the ISTE Standards for Students and identifies the concepts learners should understand and the competencies they should be able to demonstrate.

The Model Curriculum Update Team was to conduct the first Training Session at the PSLA Conference on April 30, 2020, and schedule and conduct regional training sessions across the 29 Intermediate Unit geographic areas over the summer and fall.  COVID-19 put an end to those plans.

Two Sequential Training Sessions: During July and August we are offering two sequential training sessions to help you get started and develop learning plans with the redesigned and updated Model Curriculum for Learners in PA School Libraries.  Each session is offered synchronously via Zoom.
Training Session 1:  Getting Started with The Model Curriculum Update
Training Session 2:  Using The Model Curriculum Update to Develop a Learning Plan for Collaborating with Teachers

Whatever your situation—one school or multiple schools, solo in your district, fresh from the classroom, or assuming new teaching responsibilities—you’ll take away an action plan to tackle how to collaborate effectively with teachers to help your learners. Bring your most successful information literacy lesson plan and learn how to align it with these standards and transform the way you collaborate with your teachers.

Act 48 Hours: If you are a PA school librarian, you can earn four Act 48 hours for preparing for and participating in both Training Sessions.  To earn Act 48 hours, you must prepare for each of the two Training Sessions by viewing a Preparation PowerPoint before each session and complete an Evaluation Form for each and participate in two Training Sessions (Training Session 1 and Training Session 2) and complete an Evaluation Form for each.

Registration: Please register for a Training Session 1 and a Training Session 2. Registration is limited and will be accepted in the order received.  Each Training Session must have at least 8 participants registered no later than three days in advance of the training. Registration for each Training Session will be capped at 20 participants to allow for interactions and questions.
