2019 Victorian Under 22 teams - Expression of Interest

This EOI form is for those who are interested in trying out for the Under-22 Victorian Teams (Mixed, Women's & Men's) who will compete in the 2019 Australian Under-22 Ultimate Championships to be held in Canberra from Friday November 30 to Sunday December 2

ELIGIBILITY
Upper limit: To be eligible to play you must be born ON or AFTER 1 January 1997
Lower limit: The Victorian teams will be accepting players 15 years and older as at August 1st, 2019.

TEAMS
Victoria will be sending four teams to the Championships in 2019. There will be an Men's team, a Women’s team, and two Mixed teams.

The Mixed A (Blue Devils) team will be “Victoria Metro” and will train in twice-weekly sessions held in Melbourne. The Mixed B team will be “Victoria Country” and will have 3-4 full day training camps on weekend. The location of these training camps will depend on the composition of the team, aiming to have a roughly even spread in travel requirements for players. In addition, there will be a two-day weekend training camp in Melbourne for both teams.

There are no geographical restrictions on eligibility for these teams – where you live does not solely determine which team you can play for.

INITIAL SELECTION EVENTS
- Saturday August 17th in Melbourne (venue TBC)
- Sunday August 18th in Melbourne (venue TBC)

Additional selection events will be held following these dates. The campaign staff will confirm the additional dates by Wednesday August 14th

A player preference model will be used to manage selections. How this works is tryouts will be watched by all coaches, assistant coaches and selectors at once and they pick their teams simultaneously. Where one or more teams have picked the same player, that player’s preference will determine which team they will be selected for. You will be asked to indicate your initial preferences in this form. You do not have to indicate a second or third preference if you do not wish to play for a team other than your first preference. There will be an opportunity to change preferences if you wish between selection events.

TRAINING SCHEDULE
Men's: TBC, will be communicated by coaches during the tryout process. Likely to be weekend trainings.

Women: TBC, will be communicated by coaches during the tryout process. Likely to be weekend trainings supplemented by a weeknight session.

Mixed A (Vic Metro Blue Devils): The current plan is to enter a Blue Devils team in Albert Park League on Monday nights to get regular high-quality match practice. Players successfully selected will be expected to prioritise playing for this team over their existing teams. There will be a rotating roster for this team so there will be opportunities to fill in for your existing teams on "off" weeks. There will also be a skills-based session on Wednesday nights (location TBC). The tentative dates for the two-day training camp (held in Melbourne) are October 12th and 13th.

Mixed B (Vic Country): The tentative dates for the one-day training camps are Sunday September 15th, Friday September 27th (public holiday), Saturday November 2nd, and Saturday November 23rd. The tentative dates for the two-day training camp (held in Melbourne) are October 12th and 13th. Venues for the one-day training camps will be determined once the team is selected.

FINANCES
At this early stage, the anticipated total cost per player for the campaign is $850 - $950 which will include travel to Canberra, accommodation, uniforms, tournament fees, food, fields, staff costs etc. Efforts will be made to ensure costs are kept to a minimum.
