2023 Nominations for the Bee Cave District Stinger Award

General Information - The Stinger Award recognizes an Individual's significant contribution and Service to a Pack, Troop, Crew, or Ship.  This award is specific to the Bee Cave District, and is available to any unit volunteer in the Bee Cave District.  The volunteer does not need to be a registered Scouter.

The number of Stinger Awards presented each year to individuals from a particular unit is limited.  One Stinger Award my be presented for every 30 registered individuals (i.e. the total number of registered youth plus registered adults) or a portion thereof, as of October 1.  For example, a unit with 22 registered Scouts and 10 registered adults has 32 registered individuals , and is therefore limited to 2 Stinger Awards.

A Professional Scouter or other Council employee may not receive this award based on employment service.  However, a professional Scouter or employee who also serves as a volunteer Scouter may be eligible, based on the volunteer service to a particular unit.

Requirements
1. Nomination must be an adult volunteer for a unit in the Bee Cave District, but does not have to be a registered Scouter.
2. The Nominee's contribution of time and energy should be regarded as highly vaulable by the members of the unit, and dervering of special public recognition.  Any noteworthy service falling within this general guidance is appropriate.
3. The individual may receive a Stinger Award only once for service to a particular unit.  However, a prior reciepent may be nominated for noteworthy service to a second unit.  For example, a prior reciepent who received a Stinger Award for service to a Pack is also eligible to be nominated for outstanding service to a Troop.

Procedure - Annually, the Bee Cave District Chairman will appoint a special Awards Committee of not more than 5 persons to consider all nominations and select the recipient of the Scout of the Year Award.

Nominations May be Submitted by any adult volunteer in the unit.  The person making a nomination should have first- hand knowledge of the nominee's efforts and achievements.

If the number of nominated volunteers for a unit exceeds the number of available Stinger Awards for that unit, the awards committee may consult a "Key2" unit leader (the Committee Chaiar and the Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Crew Advisor or Ship Advisor) to provide additional input regarding the nominees.

Nominations are due no later than December 1st or at such date as may be posted on the Bee Cave District Website.  All nominations are kept confidential.  Please submit all nominations via this google form or email information awards@beecavedistrict.org

The Stinger Awards will be announced and presented at the annual Bee Cave DIstrict Leader Appreciation Banquet.
