Based on Michael Uslan's book,
The Boy Who Loved Batman play (formerly known as
Darknights & Daydreams) delves into how his lifelong quest to reclaim the true essence of Batman transformed today’s comic book movies. As a child, Uslan was obsessed with comic books (particularly
Batman) and despite Hollywood’s initial reluctance, he remained determined to bring the real Batman—dark, serious, burdened by a tragic past—to the silver screen. His journey, spanning a decade of rejection, led him to become the Executive Producer of every modern Batman film, from Tim Burton’s 1989
Batman to Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy and beyond. Uslan’s story is both warmly told and inspiring, a testament to the power of comic book heroes and the tenacity of a New Jersey boy determined to bring one to life.
