Welcome to New Clothes for the Emperor! We have roles for students in Meadows, Overlook, or Brooklyn School buildings. Complete this form with a parent to ensure a spot for New Clothes auditions or to let staff know you are interested in helping with other aspects of the play (sound, props, lighting, etc.)! Once I have student information, I will send out audition materials. Auditions are scheduled for Friday, November 22nd.

Attendance is very important! A pattern of missing rehearsals may result in reassignment of a role/job. All rehearsals are during school hours. Off-campus rehearsals begin at the end of February. Check your calendars for any conflicts your student might have between January and March. Tentative dates are: Dress rehearsal Wednesday 3/18; Daytime show 3/19; PM show Friday 3/20 at 6pm. Narrator: guides us through the story with lots of energy and wry wit; starts out as a mere sweeper-upper, but climbs the heights by the end.

Empress: great ship of state who sails blothely on

Gabardine: silly maidservant

Princess Chenille: Fairy-tale princess with a definite edge

Count de Gauche: Prime Minister, nasty and oily, a real toady; should be similar in age to the princess and captain

Emperor: his fatal flaw, vanity, makes him a bit pompous, but he's also cuddly and clueless

Captain Herringbone Faircloth: every fairy tale needs a hero; he's not quite that, but he is every inch a soldier- well, and earnest, bumbling soldier

Tailor #1: charming rapscallion and polished flimflam; able to weave a web of deception around the emperor and most everyone else

Tailor #2: same as Tailor #1

Live feed of rehearsals or a performance may be streamed.

Performances are for the friends and family of current students. While we post about our events, we do not advertise or sell tickets to the public.
