Participation criteria
To participate in the study, you must be (a) over 18 years old and (b) a native speaker of (Standard) Southern British English. You are advised to complete the study on a PC using earphones/headphones.
Study description
This study investigates how you rate the accentedness of different speech samples. 

Specifically, you will listen to samples of (Standard) Southern British English (familiar accent), Australian English (regional accent) and foreign English (foreign accent) and you will have to rate from 1-5 how "Southern British English", "Australian English" and "foreign English" respectively is what you heard.

The total duration of the study is 15 minutes.
Ethical considerations
The data will remain in the possession of the researcher and will not be shared. They will be stored in password-protected files on the researcher's computer and only the researcher will have access to them. The data will be used only for research purposes (publications in scientific journals, presentations at conferences). You can withdraw from the study at any time.
Benefits of your participation
Your participation in this study is voluntary. You can, however, share the experience of participating in a rating experiment in which you will evaluate the accentedness of speech samples. Also, you can ask the researcher to send you a certificate of participation, which is useful for your CV.
