The 2020 TECI Workshop run by ISEE has been cancelled due to the high risk of the spreading coronavirus. This document addresses ISEE and TMT’s policy on cancellation-related costs. ISEE’s/TECI’s support for participant travel is funded by the TMT Project Office and University of California Observatories.

For participants and instructors who were offered travel support from TECI or UC Observatories, ISEE will be responsible for all non-refundable cancellation costs for purchases made prior to March 7 (we sent an email asking you to not purchase tickets on March 6).
Participants who have travel support established through their own sources or TMT partners will need to work directly with them to determine whether the corresponding cancellation costs can be reimbursed.

If you might be able to use the airline ticket for another trip you have planned, please consider helping ISEE reduce losses by cancelling and using your ticket credit for another purpose. Please check with the airline to see if they will allow you to cancel your trip in exchange for a ticket credit, and waive the cancellation or change fee. We will reimburse you for the cancellation fee if the airline does not waive it, and you can use the ticket credit for another purpose, typically with a time limit of one year. If the fee is not waived and is greater than the original cost of your flight, please allow ISEE to reimburse you for the flight cost instead of canceling (see below).

If you do not have an alternate use for the ticket credit, we will reimburse you for the full cost of the ticket you purchased.

** For individuals whose travel to TECI is funded by a source other than TMT/UCO/ISEE: please consult with your institution or funding source about how to cancel flights you have booked and receive reimbursement.
