Purpose: Provide fresh, local food to Excelsior Springs and the surrounding area.

Mission: Improve the health of the area and support local producers and farm families.

Vision: rovide those who live there with fresh food, teaching them the benefits of consuming fresh produce.

General Information:

Fees: $50 for the Season (if not attending both markets) , $40 if attending both morning & evening markets, 2024, or $10 on a weekly basis
Electricity- $5 Weekly or $25 season
Market will take place every Wednesday from 9 - 11:30 a.m. starting on June 5 and ending on Oct. 30, 2024
The first Farmer’s Market of the season will be Wednesday, June 5, 2024
Vendor Meeting May 22nd, 2024 at the Chamber Office

General Guidelines:

Vendors must arrive & take-down promptly.
Please remove all trash & leave area clear.
Accept Debit, Credit Cards, Cash, SNAP/EBT and Double Up Food Bucks tokens (training provided).
Vendors must provide certificate of insurance which shows possession of general liability.
Ideally, vendors should be local to the area, no farther than 200 miles from Excelsior Springs.
Resale of other farmers’ produce is encouraged, but must be labeled distinctly from the vendor’s own produce with the origin of the produce.
Signage should include the name of the farm or craftsman & the location of their production.
No inappropriate language or behavior allowed.
Market manager has the right to remove any vendor not following these guidelines.
Market manager must be notified of not attending by 6:00 pm the Sunday before.

Items Permitted to be Sold:

Fruits & Vegetables: Fruits and vegetables should be unprocessed unless vendor has a processing license, sampling requires at least a Temporary Food Establishment permit. A Farmer’s Market permit can be applied for instead of a temporary food permit. The Farmer’s Market permit has the same requirements as the temporary permit, but is specifically for Farmer’s Markets and is good for the whole Farmer’s Market season.

Baked Goods: All baked goods must be made in a licensed and inspected facility(Clay County Requirements). They cannot be made from pre-made dough or mixes. Indicate if any pre-made frosting or filling has been used, provide recipes upon request, ingredients must be printed on a label, as well as the name of the food, place of business and manufacturer, any allergens, and declaration of quantity.

Honey: Missouri statute exempts inspection if annual sales are less than $30,000, vendor must display a sign indicating that these items are not subject to regulation. These items are subject to the same labeling requirements as Baked Goods

Jelly and Jams: Jellies and jams must be made in a licensed and inspected facility. These items are subject to the same labeling requirements as Baked Goods.

Eggs: Vendors must have an egg license from the Missouri Department of Agriculture, they must be kept at 45° or less. Cartons must contain the name and address of the producer.

Meat: Meat must be inspected and approved by the Missouri Department of Agriculture, a Temporary Food Establishment Permit or a Farmer’s Market Permit is required, all meat must be kept frozen, and clearly labeled.

Artisans: Flowers, jewelry, & local goods made by artisans are permitted, subject to committee approval.
