Opinion on Honu Gathering in Hawai'i
Native Hawaiian Gathering Rights Association is gathering information to develop a sustainable practice for Honu (green turtle) gathering. The turtle fishery was a traditional practice for Native Hawaiians and locals of Hawai'i as a food resource until it was restricted, and now the Honu is recovered in the state of Hawai'i. With your support and opinion, we would like to use this information we gather from Hawaii residents to create a proposal to make a permitting process for Honu gathering.

-Propose to the National Marine Fisheries the need to make the Honu resource available in Hawai'i for local families.

-Observation and data of turtle nesting in Hawai'i has proven that Honu are restored and Honu are adapting to climate change.
