Yakisugi (Burnt Cedar) & Kominka (Japanese Traditional Folk House) Survey
The *Okumikawa Inakakurashitai NPO has recently started a project producing yakisugi (burnt cedar) siding using ungraded local wood in an effort to revitalize depopulated rural areas. Yakisugi is created by charring the surface of a piece of wood, which strengthens and preserves it and creates a distinctive appearance. Kominka (Japanese folk houses) and kura (traditional storehouses) were sometimes made with yakisugi siding.

We would like to know what people outside Japan think about yakisugi and kominka and would be very grateful if you could answer the following questions. The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete and does not ask for names or personal details. Thank you for your help!

(We would be grateful if you could complete the survey by September 12th.)
