Thank you for your interest in volunteering for USA Ultimate Division 1 College Nationals here in Madison. Your help is essential to creating the best possible experiences for players and fans from across America as they come to the Capital City of Ultimate this Memorial Day weekend. We will need volunteers throughout the weekend in a variety of roles in order to pull off a successful event.
Filling out this form gives you first crack at signing up for shifts for Nationals. Shifts may change as we get closer to the event, but this gives us a jump on scheduling.
Here are the roles that we will be filling and a brief description of what they entail.
Scorekeeper
Scorekeepers will be assigned to a specific field and will be responsible for tracking scores and stats for that field on provided iPads. Scorekeepers will have to attend a brief training (held twice daily before Rounds 1 and 3) on the equipment and procedures before their first shift as scorekeeper.
Operations
Operations will be responsible for taking care of tasks around the park, including keeping water jugs filled, moving trainers and staff around as needed, and any other logistical tasks that come up. Ops staff must be 18+ because you will likely be driving a golf cart at some point.
Admissions/Parking
The admissions and parking staff will be responsible for checking admissions and wristbands for people entering the facility and assisting people in getting parked and directing traffic.
Media/Field Liaison
The media and field liaisons will be assigned to a pair of fields and will be responsible for assisting credentialled media as needed as well as monitoring the boundaries to ensure that only appropriate individuals are entering the restricted spaces.
Hospitality Tent
The hospitality tent staff will assist in setting up and manning the tent for volunteer food and drink. This may involve a supply run if needed, but will hopefully involve connecting with delivery drivers and assisting with the setting out of food.
Concessions
We will be selling certain snacks and drinks; this will involve manning that table, checking IDs for beer sales, and collecting money.
You may also indicate if you have a "baggage" that you'd like to work with. This is particularly for scorekeeping but may apply to any of the positions. We will endeavor to put people together who want to work together in order for the day to go more nicely.
