Per the Attendance Policy in our Syllabus, a "class event" is an in-class activity, such as a lecture or critique, in which your presence is expected. An UNEXCUSED absence is one in which you've ghosted a class event, without communicating beforehand with the professor. Excused absences do not figure into this policy.
• A student who completes 6-8 assignments, and who is responsible about communicating with the professor about their absences, as shown in the chart below, will earn an A.
• A student who completes 4-5 assignments, and who is responsible about communicating with the professor about their absences, as shown in the chart below, will earn a B.
• Students who complete fewer assignments, and/or who have significant numbers of unexcused absences, will earn grades as shown in the chart below.
Note that an assignment will be considered sufficiently “complete” if at least 75% of the items on its required checklist are completed. Detailed checklists for each assignment will be provided. Policies for late work may differ from assignment to assignment, depending on how a given assignment is reviewed (guest critics, in-class critique, public exhibition, etc.). Late projects may receive credit, but will generally not receive much if any feedback. This information also appears online at:
