Since you must be 16 to ride a Class 3 E-Bike, these are not allowed at school. If your child has a Class 3 E-Bike which has been adjusted to a Class 2 maximum of 20 mph, you may attest to this using this form. Otherwise, your child may not ride a bike with a Class 3 bike to school.
As a reminder:
An e-bike is considered Class 3 when it reaches a speed of 28 mph with pedal assist. Once the top speed of 28 mph is reached, the pedal-assist system is disengaged. Class 3 e-bikes are a tier below true motorcycles and mopeds, which means their riders MUST BE AT LEAST 16.
Common Class 3 E-Bikes are:
MURF: FAT MURF AND FAT PAX
SONDORS: CRUISER, LX, ROCKSTAR
Any bike found to be out of compliance will lose their Permit privileges on the first offense.
