This summer’s fully online Institute prepares individuals, teams, and schools to implement both remote and face-to-face learning environments that respond to students’ needs, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prepare for both remote and face-to-face learning environments in Fall 2021
• Set meaningful goals for you and your school community.
• Design a pathway to achieve those goals.
• Engage in team time, facilitated workshops, small group discussions, one-on-one consultations, self-paced modules, and consultations with students.
• Collaborate in deep and thoughtful work with other dedicated educators.
• Plan to address learners’ needs in relation to equity, personalization, trauma-informed practice, social- emotional learning, restorative practice, social justice and more.

Graduate Credit or Professional Development Hours

You can elect to participate in Middle Grades Institute for graduate credit or for professional development hours. Participants who choose to earn graduate credit may be expected to complete modules, readings and assignments online prior to attending MGI and are expected to propose and implement an action research project in fall 2021.

Your Pathway

The first pathway, "Exploring Social Justice with Young Adolescents" provides participants with the most flexibility and focuses on preparing an equitable and responsive plan for fall 2021. It can be taken for professional development hours or for graduate credit.

The other four pathways meet the Vermont middle level endorsement requirements if taken for graduate credit.

Since MGI 2021 is online video may occur. In registering for the institute, attendees understand that MGC may use their likenesses for future educational and promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be recorded, please notify the facilitator at the start of video session.
