The Lord desires that his church appoint Elders to be overseers of his church, which is His Kingdom on earth, and the men chosen to fill that office are to have certain qualities.
Please prayerfully examine each name and consider if they are qualified.

1.  Consider if the qualities in their life match up well with the qualities mentioned in      
1 Timothy 3:1-12 and Titus 1:6-9.

Elder Qualities
 
• Above Reproach
• Self-Control
• Able to teach
• Not a lover of money
• Not overbearing
• Good reputation w/ outsiders
• Husband of one wife
• Respectable
• Not given to drunkenness
• Manages his family well
• Disciplined
• Temperate
• Hospitable
• Not a recent convert
• Blameless
• Loves what is good
• Not violent but gentle
• Not quarrelsome

2.  Consider if they are currently (whether a current Elder or not) fulfilling the expectations that God has for an Elder.

Elder Expectations
• Shepherd-One who feeds, guides, leads, loves and protects.
                     1 Peter 5:2-3
                     John 21
• Mentor-One who shows you how to live a Christian life by their words and life.
                     1 Corinthians 11:1
                     1 Thessalonians 3:6-9
• Equipper-One who helps you use your gifts and talents for God’s Kingdom.
                     Ephesians 4:11-12

 In God’s church, Deacons are appointed to be workers and to assist the Elders.  Please prayerfully examine each name and consider if they are qualified.

Deacon Qualities
 
• Respectful    
• Sincere      
• Not indulging in much wine
• Not pursuing dishonest gain    
• Wife is respectable      
• Hold to the truths of the faith
• Husband of one wife  
• Manages his family well
 

2.  Consider if they are currently (whether a current Deacon or not) fulfilling the expectations God has for a Deacon.

Deacon expectations
• Handle the physical matters of the church so that the Elders can focus on prayer and ministry.
              Acts 6:1-7

• Take the attitude of a servant and show that by their words and life.
              Acts 6:1-7
