Risk of Burnout in OT Practitioners/Educators
Introduction

You are invited to participate in a research study, "An Analysis of the Impact of Practice Setting on Risk of Burnout among Occupational Therapists". The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of risk for burnout among occupational therapists that are currently practicing and reside in North Carolina or South Carolina.

The aim of this study is to answer the following research question: What is the impact of practice setting on risk for burnout among occupational therapists?

Participation. You consent that you are over the age of 18. You meet all inclusion criteria of this study which includes the following: participants that are currently licensed to practice (Full time, Part time, PRN), currently employed as an occupational therapist (Full time, Part time, PRN), or reside in North Carolina and South Carolina. Participation in this survey is voluntary. You may refuse to take part in the research or exit at any time without penalty. You may skip any question that you do not wish to answer for any reason without penalty. I understand that by selecting “Yes” am verifying that I am 18 years of age or older and giving my consent to participate in this research. I understand that by selecting “No” am verifying that I do not give my consent to participate in this research. I understand that the selection of “YES” will serve as my electronic signature for agreement to participate.

Time Required. Participation in this survey will require 10-15 minutes to complete.

Risks. The investigator perceives minimal risk from your involvement in this study, no greater than that of everyday life events.

Benefits. Potential benefits from participation in this study includes expanding occupational therapy research and bringing awareness of burnout in OT practice as well as helping to identify which settings are more at risk. Each participant will be provided with strategies to prevent burnout following completion of the survey.

Payment for participation. Participants will receive no payment for taking part in this study.

Confidentiality. As an online participant in this research, there is always the risk of a data breach due to hackers. No absolute guarantees can be made regarding the confidentiality of electronic data. However, the data collected in this survey will be transmitted in encrypted format to provide additional safeguards against hacking. This helps ensure that any data intercepted during transmission cannot be decoded and the individual responses cannot be traced back to an individual respondent.
