Mountainburg Cheer Tryout form 24-2025

( Junior High team will be those entering 7th-9th grade in the fall. High School team will be those entering 10th through 12th grade)

*This application is due Monday 3/11/2024. You have to have it in order to try out.

*Open gym will be 3:30-5:00 Monday 3/4/2024, and Wednesday 3/6/2024 in the High School gym, come practice with us and learn some basics before tryout week. These days are optional but a good opportunity to review or build skill.

*Mandatory parent meeting will be held Monday, 3/4/2024 at 5:15 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria. This will be right after open gym.

*Clinic days will be 3:30 to 5:30 on Monday 3/11/2024, Tuesday 3/12/2024, and Wednesday 3/13/2024. With an OPTIONAL practice on Thursday 3/14/2024. You will need comfortable clothes, hair pulled out of your face, and appropriate TENNIS shoes. It is against NFHS rules to perform cheerleading tasks barefoot or in socks. Any jewelry needs to be taken out for practice. IT IS MANDATORY FOR YOU TO ATTEND ALL 3 DAYS OF CLINIC IN ORDER TO TRY OUT. (If you have a conflict please speak to the coach in advance)

*TRYOUTS will be held Friday 3/15/2024 in the High School gym. You will need blue shorts and a solid, white shirt. You may wear a ribbon or bow but nothing that indicates you may have previously been a cheerleader. Please make sure your undergarments do not show.

*If you have been removed or quit the cheer squad during the 2023-2024 season you are not eligible to try out.

*If you have a balance from a previous year you are not eligible for tryouts without paying the balance. This also means that all uniform pieces have to be turned in.

*A parent or guardian must sign all forms.

*These teams will be COMPETITION teams as well as SIDELINE cheer for football and basketball. JH will for sure compete in 2 competitions, SH will compete in at least 3-4 plus State which will be held in December. This means that we will have several practices a week from September to December. There will also be one MANDATORY Saturday practice to learn competition choreography, and all of the competitions are on a Saturday..

*There will be several fundraisers that will be split between the two teams. These include little league concession, a 5K, gate at SB and BB, a parent night out, a dance. (There will be more)

*There will also be a Mandatory cheer camp tentatively July 12-17.(When we have final administrative approval we will let everyone know.)

*The dues for the year will be $250. This can be made in 3 installments.

These are all things to take into consideration when you are thinking about joining the cheer team. We would love to have you join our program and help cheer on the Dragons!

Tryout Affidavit

I understand that the Mountainburg Cheerleading tryouts will be handled with the utmost degree of fairness to each candidate. Scores from three non-local, qualified judges will be used to determine the total score for each candidate. I understand that the school personnel overseeing the tryout has no input whatsoever in the selection of the squad. Therefore, no telephone calls, letters, or further communication, should be addressed to the school personnel concerning the outcome of the squad. I understand that clinic tryouts are closed to spectators. I also understand that candidates must leave the building immediately after their tryout. By signing this below, you are also acknowledging you have read and understand the information given.
