TEDxDetroit 2023 Speaker Application
Do you have an idea worth spreading?

Before you say "yes", know that TEDxDetroit is not your usual conference. We're looking for WOW! This is not the time to roll out your same old talk. There's no time or patience for selling from the stage or delivering a book report or reciting your same old stump speech. We're only accepting fresh ideas.

Make us think. Make us laugh. Make us cry. Make us lean in and see things from a new perspective. Make us say "WOW!"

Before you submit your talk for review, please google and take to heart "the TED commandments." We also recommend watching a few TED talks to get a feel for the format. Derek Sivers, Brené Brown, Baratunde Thurston, and Shai Agassi are all excellent examples.

In the past, we've had a director from Pixar, a planetary scientist from NASA, the founder of Baby Einstein, Forbes woman of the year, the inventor of a blade-less wind turbine, two college students who teach app development to teens in juvenile detention, two billionaire CEOs and a 7-year old who started a lemonade stand that raised thousands for charity. This year's mix will be similar. Are you up to the challenge?

Fill out the form below for your chance to give your talk from the stage at TEDxDetroit 2023. The deadline to submit a talk is June 30th. Speakers will be announced in late July.

Link us to a clip on youtube of you delivering a presentation or being interviewed in the media. If you don't have a video (or even if you do), whip out your phone a film yourself passionately conveying your big idea in one minute or less. We're looking for speakers who can light up the stage and engage the audience. If you aren't excited about your idea, we probably aren't excited to hear it either. This is one of the most important items we review on your application.
