2023 Sierra Sharks Assistant Coach
Sierra Sharks Mission Statement:
The Sierra Sharks Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Sierra Sharks Swim Team to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Job Description:  Under the leadership and in coordination with the Head Coach and Lead Assistant, the assistant coaches provide support and assistance in the daily tasks of the Sierra Sharks Swim Team.

Reports to: Lead Assistant and Head Coach

Job Duties:
- Attend and assist as scheduled on weekly work schedule including but not limited to water safety evaluations, time trial mock meet, daily practices, 7 league dual meets, the league 3 day championship meet, and the end of season awards banquet. (Note, not all time at these events will be considered work time)
- Represent the team as assistant coaches and conduct oneself responsibly and as examples to other team members.
- Assist the Head Coach and Lead Assistant at daily practices helping develop swimmer skills, maintaining safety and organization and helping manage swimmers while they practice.
- Foster relationships with swimmers to create an enjoyable and memorable swim team experience for team swimmers.
-  Help coordinate and manage swimmers at all team meets including mock time trial meet, dual meets and league championship meet.
-  Participate in and help organize meet team meetings and cheers.
-  Provide team motivation, camaraderie and spirit throughout the season.
-  Provide feedback and keep open lines of communication with the Head Coach and Lead Assistant to facilitate an effective and efficient team.
-  Be focused on work tasks during work hours and not distracted by social or technological distractions.
- Other responsibilities as needed and communicated by the board.

Qualifications:
- Of age to be able to work or to have a valid work permit (16+ or 15 with work permit)
- Experience in the world of swim and swim teams is highly desirable
- Ability to communicate clearly and express oneself while respecting others and being a good team player
- A history of solid character including making responsible choices, maintaining the respect of others, and demonstrating wisdom and ability to keep others safe around the water
-  Demonstration of previous successful work history including being timely, handling responsibility, and showing leadership characteristics
-  Having a positive, enthusiastic attitude,
- Having the ability to motivate kids and teenagers, and being able to sustain a positive attitude in various situations
- Preferred water safety training, CPR training, lifeguard certification or similar training if possible
-  Ability to become Lifeguard certified (not mandatory)

Estimated hours: 8-15 hours per week.  No minimum hours promised.  Scheduling based on need and assistant effectiveness and availability
