LIC HS will be having the virtual Parent Association (PA) and School Leadership Team (SLT) nominations on May 10th at 4:30pm and the elections on June 14th at 4:30pm.
The Parent Association Board would like to form a nominating committee to complete the 2021-2022 election process.
Please complete this form if you are interested in being part of the PA nominating committee and the election process.
The three mandatory positions are: president, recording secretary, and treasurer.

What is a PA?
Parent Associations (PAs) are school-based organizations open to all parents/guardians of children currently attending a New York City public school.
What is the role of the PA?
The PA is a great way for parents/ guardians to become involved in their children’s education, share ideas, and enrich their school communities. Each PA develops its own bylaws, elects officers, and holds regular meetings.
What are the mandatory PA positions?
President- Should preside at all meetings of the association and delegate responsibilities to other association members. Encourage participation in parent and school activities.
Treasurer- Responsible for all financial affairs and funds of the association.
Recording secretary- Records minutes at all association meetings and assists in the preparation of notices, agendas, sign in sheets, and materials for distribution.
What is a SLT?
The School Leadership Team (SLT) is a group of people who develop educational policies for their school. They also make sure there are resources to support those policies.
*Provide ongoing evaluations of a school’s educational programs and their impact on student achievement.
*Play an important role in school-based decision-making
*Help to make school cultures more collaborative.
