The 7th Annual Equity in the Job Search Symposium (EJS) is on Friday, May 12th, 2023 from 10 AM to 4:20 PM EDT. EJS is an annual event that provides practical, hands-on workshops to assist graduate students and post-docs at all stages of the job search. We integrate career advice with data-driven discussions of unconscious bias to expand the conversation of equity to a larger population. The guiding principle behind the symposium is to recognize unconscious biases in ourselves and institutions and work to combat them together.

This year’s symposium is centered on the theme “Moving Beyond Tokenism, Towards Inclusion”. This will be a hybrid event, with a morning workshop focusing on identities at work, a keynote focused on inclusive workplaces, an afternoon panel discussion on promoting inclusive workplaces and addressing challenges faced by underrepresented minorities, and an afternoon workshop on pay-setting practices. Lunch will be provided for in-person Yale attendees at a networking event.
