Sustainable Trails of interest?
The Sustainable Backyards Trail has included aspects relating to sustainable homes and farms. We're considering creating two new trails and we would like to know if you'd be interested.

SBT is a 10 day event where the public are toured through a variety backyards to pick up ideas to take back to their own garden. Find out more here www.sustainablebackyards.org.nz/ 
Sustainable Homes
Visit homes with features that provide comfort, but also reduce long-term costs through energy efficiency such solar or wind to generate power, water collection, energy efficient appliances, EV charging, insulation and building materials (e.g. rammed earth, hemp), house positioning, being air and weather-tight, ventilation, and reduced thermal bridging (when heat escapes).

Is there a particular aspect of sustainable homes that you’re interested in? 
E.g. comfort, reduce long-term costs, energy efficiency, solar or wind power, water collection, smart-technology, appliances, EV charging, insulation, building materials (e.g. rammed earth, hempcrete), house positioning, air and weather-tight, ventilation, and reduced thermal bridging, demolition.

Sustainable Farms
Visit farms who value and work with the environment to raise animals and grow food. Range of farms such as dairy and beef cows, chickens, vegetables, flowers, mushrooms, fruits, nuts, berries, bees, rare animal breeds. Attend tours, talks, and demonstrations or just experience ‘farm life’ by feeding or handling animals, harvesting a crop, seeing machines in action.
