Dear parent or other caring adult,

Centennial Middle School has scheduled a comprehensive sexuality education program, for your child’s PE/Health class. This program delivers factually accurate, age-appropriate information on a range of sexual health and relationships topics. Additionally, it fulfills required classroom education for Oregon state health benchmarks.

The program is grounded in the principles of social and emotional learning, which focuses on the areas of self-awareness, interpersonal skills and decision-making. Students will be given time to practice responsible decision making skills to build and maintain healthy relationships in all aspects of their lives.

This program recognizes parents and caregivers as the primary sexuality educators of their children. Positive communication between parents and children helps establish family and individual values, enabling young people to make healthier, safer, and better informed decisions related to sexuality.

We are excited to be able to offer this program at a time when it is critical for young people to learn facts and skills to keep them healthy.

Should you NOT wish your child to take part in this program, please note here with the name and class period your child attends.

If you opt out of this portion of health class, your child will be given an alternate assignment to complete in Google Classroom.
