12th Grade Course Registration 2023-2024
Rising 12th Grade Course Request Instructions

Welcome to The Stony Brook School! You have made a great choice to join a community of scholars who bring wisdom and imagination together to cultivate great vision in the next generation of leaders. If you are a returning student, we are excited to help you plan for next year. Now is the time to start thinking about next year’s courses.

Please review the Course Catalog, which is available at www.sbs.org/academics.  This includes graduation requirements, registration rules, and information about the registration process (pp. 2-7). Please read the registration rules carefully, particularly regarding individual class prerequisites, listed under each course.

On this form you will be choosing full year and single semester courses.  All students must take at least 5 courses each semester.  Your 7th course needs to be a low-homework course as described on the Course Planner (bottom pg. 11) of the Course Catalog (www.sbs.org/academics).  Students may not take more than one AP science course.  If you choose more than the allowed 7 courses, the ones that you choose last will not show up in your selections, so please choose carefully.

In 12th grade, some courses are required, but you have many more elective choices than you have had in the past, so long as you meet the prerequisites. Most importantly, 12th Graders must be sure they will have met all of the graduation requirements by the end of the year. Students are automatically registered for all required courses, so they do not appear in this form.

Once you have completed your schedule and submitted it, if you and/or your parents still have specific questions regarding your schedule, please contact the registrar at registrar@sbs.org.
