With a duration of two years, the project came to an end in June 2022.

As a final climax, we are holding a closure event on the 24th and 25th of November in Pamplona, where the main findings and policy implications will be shared with relevant stakeholders.

ESPON 2030 program

The strategic approach of the new ESPON 2030 Programme will be presented. 

As main results of the ESPON IRiE project find their place in the new thematic focus on "Territories resilient to crises", insights about future research opportunities in this doimain will be introduced. 

Region-to Region data, Scenarios analysis and Policy Implications

ESPON IRiE has revealed how European regions interrelate in terms of flows of goods, services, capital, people and knowledge (region-to-region data)

Almost 300 regions have been addressed, depicting more than 65.000-region-to-region flows (combinations of origins and destinations). 

Key indicators, typologies and a Pan-European analysis will be also shown.

Considering the globalization umbrella, the regional and sectoral impacts of key phenomena such as COVID-19, the Green Deal or the War in Ukraine have been simulated. The IRiE team will present the results obtained in this Scenarios analysis and provide some insights on future trends.

Finally, an assessment of policy implications will be presented.
