Our 580 acre ranch has a rich history that began with Peter Lassen and Leland Stanford and continues today with the monastic community that lives here.  We dedicated our new abbey church on July 2, 2018.  It contains the reconstruction of the 800 year-old Chapter House that William Randolph Hearst purchased and moved from Santa María de Óvila, Spain in the early 1930’s to San Francisco.  To learn more about our sacred oasis, please visit our websites www.newclairvaux.org and www.newclairvauxvineyard.com.

Mission Statement

Seeking God at this place of New Clairvaux, we are a community of Cistercian monks living the Rule of Saint Benedict.  We witness God's love for the world according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ by a life of prayer, labor and sustainable stewardship of our resources in simplicity and openness to the signs of the times.  Our monastery welcomes all people in a spirit of hospitality, and engages others in collaborative relationships.
