NHPAA + CTE/VA Student Leadership Committee Interest Form 22-23

The Newport Harbor VAPA + CTE Student Leadership Committee exists to provide student lead support for the visual/performing arts and career/technical education programs at Newport Harbor High School and enhance the artistic and marketing reach of our departments while representing the best interests of VAPA + CTE students in branch wide decisions and situations. We regularly partner with fellow student leadership programs (ASB, Link Crew, Bridges, etc.) to advocate for inclusion and celebration of the arts at Newport Harbor High School.

The Newport Harbor VAPA + CTE Student Leadership Committee is composed of up to 20 student representatives who are actively participating in one or more VAPA or CTE program. The committee is chaired by the NHHS Associated Student Body's VAPA/CTE Commissioner (position filled by NHHS ASB in the spring of the prior school year). The remaining representative positions are open to any VAPA + CTE students and are filled in September every school year via an interest form. Each department of VAPA + CTE has at least one representative on the committee. All VAPA + CTE students including those not currently acting as student representatives may attend our meetings to remain informed of happenings within our community and offer their opinions/votes on department wide matters.

The Newport Harbor VAPA + CTE Student Leadership Committee facilitates and/or assists in the maintenance of the following events, publications, and programs:

  • Monthly VAPA + CTE/ROP Newsletter publication

  • Upkeep of department respective and branch wide social media pages

  • Creation of promotional materials for said social media pages and websites including content coverage for events and productions

  • Planning and facilitation of events including promotional welcome events for freshmen/new students, fundraising campaigns, and awards/recognition ceremonies

These duties are fulfilled during our monthly committee work session meetings and through hours of dedication to difficult and creative tasks. If this level of commitment and this kind of work interests you, please fill out the interest form below by FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 30th, 2022. Not all who apply will be given a representative position. Thanks for your interest!
