CRITERIA:
•School counselors, Social Workers, and other Mental Health professionals working with Pacific Islander students (Chamorro (Guam), Fijian, Hawaiian, Maori, Marshallese, Samoan, Tahitian, Tongan, etc.) in grades K-12, or college or university are eligible for the Sala Auelua Counselor Award. Nominees do NOT have to be of Pacific Islander descent.
• Counselors may be nominated by community members, educators, or students.
• Counselor are selected based on their commitment to Pacific Islander student achievement, Pacific Islander club or other activity sponsorship, or other forms of service to students and the community.
