THIS AWARD IS NAMED IN HONOR OF THE LATE SALAMASINA (SALA) AUELUA, Cajon High School, San Bernardino City Unified School District, one of the first Pacific Islander School Counselors.

CRITERIA:
•School counselors, Social Workers, and other Mental Health professionals working with Pacific Islander students (Chamorro (Guam), Fijian, Hawaiian, Maori, Marshallese, Samoan, Tahitian, Tongan, etc.) in grades K-12, or college or university are eligible for the Sala Auelua Counselor Award. Nominees do NOT have to be of Pacific Islander descent.
Counselors may be nominated by community members, educators, or students.
Counselor are selected based on their commitment to Pacific Islander student achievement, Pacific Islander club or other activity sponsorship, or other forms of service to students and the community.
