Activists Transforming Injustice: This is What Change Looks Like
Speakers: Sharon Egretta Sutton

Transformations: Action on Equity, brought together international and Australian speakers who are actively creating new futures for the built environment professions and the communities they serve. It provides an opportunity to learn from leading practitioners and academics, to share ideas with colleagues and to enhance your knowledge of the gender equity in the built environment professions and practice.

Transformations was a collaboration between Parlour and the Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne, 14 & 15 November, 2020. It was convened by Justine Cark, Julie Willis and Anna Hurliman.

In this session Sharon Egretta Sutton dares built environment professionals to accomplish an equitable future, not for themselves, but for the society they serve.

She envisions built environment professionals who advance equity by digging deep into the well of feminist know-how. She asks us to facilitate community problem solving around today’s ruinous social and ecological challenges, and offers strategies to do so.

Please refer to the Parlour website for the learning objectives associated with the symposium. These relate to the Practice Management Unit of Competency in the Australian National Standard of Competency for Architects.
