NEW Bitter & Twisted Volunteer Register

Bitter & Twisted is always a highlight of the HUB calendar and I'm sure we're all looking forward to it again this year! Please read the text below which is designed to ensure that we all have a great time, the event runs smoothly and we put our best foot forward as a club.

Volunteering at the B&T Festival is not just about putting in your time; it's about contributing to the heart and soul of our local brewing community. As members of Hunter United Brewers, we share a passion for craft beer and a commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive beer culture. By volunteering at this festival, we play a crucial role in ensuring that everyone who attends has a fantastic time. Our efforts in setting up, pouring beer, teaching classes, helping other breweries and assisting festival-goers directly impact their overall experience. We create an atmosphere of warmth, camaraderie, and hospitality, which ultimately reflects positively on our club and the local craft beer scene. By actively contributing your part, you not only support your fellow club members but also showcase positive behavior that can secure our club's invitation for next year's event.

To gain Free Entry to Bitter and Twisted 2023, please keep in mind these requirements:

1)     Club fees are paid by September 30

2)     Provide one full 19L keg of drinkable beer and;

3)     Commit to volunteering during the sessions, which includes:

  • 1x 1-hour shift during Session 1, plus
  • 1x 1-hour shift during Session 2 on SATURDAY, and
  • an additional 1-hour shift on the second day if you plan to attend both days of the event.

Being able to serve your beer to the public is a very unique experience and to do this, you will require your RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol). If you currently do not have it, the club will reimburse you up to $50 of the cost of obtaining this (new applications only, not renewals). This process will take around a month to obtain, so don’t leave it to the last minute.

Don’t have your RSA and think you can’t volunteer? Wrong! 😊 Every stall session requires a “helper” to go and get next kegs, ice, finding next session helpers etc.  Nearby stalls also appreciate extra help.

Please also provide a name and graphic (for the tap label) for your beer – remember this is Bitter and Twisted – so be imaginative and quirky!  If you don't have the technical ability, ask a friend, your child, another HUB member, anything!  Just make sure you get it organised.  The label needs to be 100mm x 100mm (we'll let you know more details on the labels closer to the event).
