Travel Assistance Funding: First five bands to register receive $500 if registered by April 1, 2024. After those five bands, the next five bands get $250 if registered by May 1, 2024. To be eligible for travel assistance, bands must participate with a full roster in both massed band events on Saturday.
Extra Funding Available for Bands: Those bands willing to play on Sunday. May 19 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. can earn additional funding. All that is requested is what constitutes a full competition band. Please contact John Rose if your band is interested in earning extra money. It does not have to be an all day play.
Extra: If time allows, as we receive entries, we will also provide an MSR set for Grade IV and Medley Set for Grade III as a bonus.
1. All events shall be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA).
2. Music selection will be based on the current EUSPBA rules on the Day of Play.
3. Order of play for all Band events will be drawn on the week of the event per EUSPBA rules.
4. Each band must have a representative present at the Pipe Band meeting to be held at 10:00am at the Piping/Drumming registration tent.
5. All bands must participate in both massed band events on Saturday in order to receive any travel awards.
6. All trophies shall be awarded at the final massed band on Saturday. All winners shall be attired in appropriate highland dress in order to receive awards.
7. No medals may be worn during any competition or mass bands.
8. A complete roster of anticipated band members who will be competing or in Mass Bands Ceremonies MUST be included to be eligible for gate tickets. All tickets will be available at the P&D tent.
9. Decisions by the Directors, Judges, Stewards, and Monitors are final.
10 Competition is subject to delay or complete cancellation due to weather on the day of the event. Entry money may not be returned.
11. On the field the Senior Drum Major will have full control of the field. Any band not following the lead of the Senior Drum Major could forfeit travel money. Any band that is determined by the Senior Drum Major to be disruptive while under his/her control could forfeit travel money.
The participant/s recognizes that participation in the Smoky Mountain Festival and Games (Games) involves a risk of physical injury including that caused by the negligence of the Participants, City of Townsend, Blount County Partnership, Blount County or the Smoky Mountain Festival and Games. By signing herein, the Participants voluntarily releases., waives and relinquishes any and current or future claims against Games, the City of Townsend, Blount County Partnership, Blount County or the Smoky Mountain Festival and Games for personal injury, property damage or wrongful death occurring to the Participant(s) arising out of participation in the Games, and agrees to indemnify and save harmless the Games, City of Townsend, Blount County Partnership, Blount County or the Smoky Mountain Festival and Games from any claim against it for personal injury, property damage or wrongful death to the Participants, to the extent allowed by law.
I also permit the Games or its sponsors to use my name or photograph of me or my organization participating in the Games for future promotional or publicity purposes, without obligation to me or my organization.
Smoky Mountain Festival and Games reserves the right to limit entries in any event based on available time to complete the event. Any band that is disallowed shall be notified no later than 3 weeks before the event or at the earliest opportunity.
