edizss@tiscali.itMonica Gentile was born in Venice, Italy and has dedicated to the study and practice of Buddhism since her university years.
In 1983 she took part in her first Vipasyana retreat. That retreat inspired a profound interest in discovering her real condition and she started travelling around Italy, England and India to study and practice more, attending several other Vipasyana retreats and coming in contact with many great teachers of other Buddhist traditions, Mahayana and Vajrayana but also Christian, Sufi and Hindu. She also started to study Sanskrit language and literature at the Orientale University of Venice.
She finished her studies in Venice by writing a thesis comparing the teachings contained in the Diamond Prajnaparamita Sutra with those of Juddu Krishnamuti, a Indian born 'philosopher' who was and remain one of her primary source of inspiration.
In those years she also briefly met Chogyal Namkhai Norbu during his famous first conference on Tibetan Medicine in Venice. Later, around 1988, she visited him in Merigar and realized that her years of search had come to an end and from then on she dedicated intensely to the study and practice of dzogchen under the guide of our master.
After she finished the university she won a grant to go for further studies in India. There she continued studying Sanskrit and started studying Tibetan language too, with private teachers from the Tibetan Institute of Buddhist Studies of Sarnath. She later went to meet one of the greatest scholar and yogi of Dzogchen, Lopon Tenzin Namdak, and remained at his monastery in Nepal for several months to study dzogchen in Bon.
After her grant came to an end she remained in Nepal and started to work in the then booming tourism industry. She travelled frequently to different retreats Chogyal Namkhai Norbu was holding in Merigar and in different parts of the world, while the Dzogchen community was slowly enlarging and different Gars were being established.
She studied the Base and First level of SMS, and became a SMS Instructor for the base level in 2016.
Stofelina Verdonk met Chogyal Namkhai Norbu in 1986, and became member of IDC.
Since then she has been collaborating, practicing and doing her best to apply His teachings In the IDC. In 1993 she was authorised by maestro to teach the Dance of the Vajra, in 2O15 becoming instructor of Santi Maha Sangha and khaita Joyfull Dances in 2O16.
Alexander Skwara is an authorised Base SMS instructor. He is student of CNNR since 1991.
He started practising Buddhism in Zen tradition in early 80-ties, later also received many important teaching from different Tibetan lamas and Theravada teachers.
In daily life he works as body therapist, mainly using techniques of traditional Thai massage.
