Abdul Ladha Science Student Centre (ALSSC) Building Bookings Form 2022-23
Abdul Ladha Science Student Centre (ALSSC) is housed by the Faculty of Science and maintained by members of the Science Undergraduate Society (SUS). The building is open to all students to serve as a hub for studying, socializing and engaging in university wide events.

This Form is for booking the ALSSC for events only. Meeting rooms CANNOT be booked with this form.

Please visit sus.ubc.ca/bookings/ to see if the building is available for your desired date. Bookings are processed on a first come, first served basis, so you will need to choose an alternate date for your event if your desired date is already taken.

All bookings must be made at least 2 weeks in advance to be considered. If you do not receive a reply within 3 business days, please contact: bmanager.bookings@sus.ubc.ca

The booking time includes setup and cleanup as managed by your organization.

Booking Fees
Terms and Conditions
1. At least 60% of students contributing to the planning and execution of an event must be in the Faculty of Science in order to qualify for the 'Science Organizations and Science Clubs' rate. For the 'SUS Groups and Clubs' rate, at least one student contributing to the planning and execution for the event must be an executive in a group or club directly supported by SUS, or they must hold a position within SUS. The 'SUS Groups and Clubs' rate will automatically be applied for any internal bookings. The Building Management Commission (BMC) has the right to verification from the respective parties.

2. Printing services are NOT offered.

3. The booked time slot includes set up and clean up time.  Overtime eligibility is at the discretion of the Building Supervisor.  If the Supervisor agrees, an ancillary fee of $25/hour for every extra hour (payment from the beginning of each hour) will be in effect.

4. Equipment will not be rented out to events outside of ALSSC. All building furniture or equipment are to remain within the building unless given permission from the Building Manager.

Damage Deposit:  The Balance Due (i.e. booking fees) is exclusive of the Damage Deposit. The Damage Deposit (paid separate by cheque or AMS Journal Voucher) must be received by the Building Manager at least two weeks prior to the event, unless stated otherwise by the Building Manager. This Deposit includes, but is not limited to cancellation, damages, cleaning, and other penalty charges. The Deposit is refunded only when ALL conditions are met.

Payment Due Dates:  Payment is due by the deadlines as indicated in the invoice, unless stated otherwise by the Building Manager. In the case that the Balance Due is not paid on time, the Deposit will not be returned and will be considered a portion of the payment of the fees. No additional bookings can be made if fees are still outstanding. The Building Management Commission reserves the right to cancel future events if outstanding fees are unpaid.

Payment Method:  Alma Mater Society (AMS) clubs and constituencies can make payments via Journal Vouchers, payable to UBC Science Undergraduate Society (Account Number: 474-5028-06). Payment by cheque is also acceptable for both deposits and rental fees (cheques should be made payable to UBC Science Undergraduate Society).

Communication:  Please quote the invoice number in all correspondence.

Cancellations: You must inform the Building Manager via email ASAP (at least 2 weeks prior to your event) if you cancel your booking. Otherwise, 100% of the booking deposit will be deposited. No exceptions.
