Role Summary: For Oak Cliff’s Lifeguard will supervise swimming activities at the pool and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed. You must already be a certified Lifeguard to apply for this position.

Role Qualifications/Skills:

- Passion for creating positive change in the Superblock
- Alignment with our values of Courage, Liberation, Love, and Wisdom
- Knowledge and ability to evaluate pool water conditions to determine any potential dangers or hazards
- Ability to judge and evaluate evolving dynamics of individuals participating in aquatic activities to immediately assess their capabilities and threats to their safety
- Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services
 
Education, Experience, Licensing and Physical Qualifications

Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or the ability to obtain such by the end date of seasonal employee orientation. If required certifications are not obtained by the end date of seasonal employee orientation, candidates must attend the next available certification course before reporting to assigned work location.
- Students must pass a pre-course swimming skills test prior to taking lifeguarding courses. This includes a 300-yard swim using front crawl or breaststroke, a 2-minute tread using legs only and the ability to retrieve a 10-lb dive weight from 11.5 ft deep, surface and swim 20 yds with the weight, using legs only and exit the pool without using a ladder within 100 seconds.*
- May require long periods of standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, squatting, carrying, dragging, holding, pulling, pushing and lifting when setting up and conducting aquatics activities in all weather conditions.

* FOC may provide pre-course swimming training to help lifeguards prepare for passing a lifeguard certification test on an as needed basis. Pleas read "Preparing to become a certified Lifeguard" below for more info.
 
Strongly Preferred:
- Minimum of 6 months of related work experience
- From the Superblock (75216)

Supplemental Information: Lifeguards must be able to work varying shifts including weekdays, evenings and weekends. Work/aquatics hours will likely be Monday - Thursday from 1:00 - 7:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Hours are subject to change.

Job Status: Part-time, Temporary/Seasonal
Compensation: $19hr + Certification Scholarship**
Orientation: Early May 2024 
Expected Start Date: Memorial Day Weekend 2024
Expected End Date: October (Depending on the weather.)
Benefits Eligibility: Not Eligible

**Scholarships are only awarded to lifeguards who become EMPLOYED with the For Oak Cliff. FOC will pay for FOC Lifeguard's certifications upfront but will withold the certification of each Lifeguard until the conclusion of the FOC aquatics season in October.
