Dear friends and colleagues,
On Tuesday June 14, 2022, we are organising the workshop HI ESDiT Collaboration on AI, Human Values and the Law at HHAI 2022, the first international conference on Hybrid Human-Artificial Intelligence (
https://www.hhai-conference.org/). The workshop aims to support collaboration between two naturally connected current NWO Gravitation projects: HI and ESDiT. The HI project, for “Hybrid Intelligence” (
https://www.hybrid-intelligence-centre.nl/), investigates how artificial intelligence (AI) and human intelligence can be combined to augment human intellect. The ESDiT project, for “Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies” (
https://www.nwo.nl/projecten/024004022), explores how emerging technologies challenge our understanding of ethics and morally important concepts. The workshop is a followup of a panel at the 4TU ethics conference in October 2021 (
https://www.4tu.nl/agenda/conference-ethics-technology/).
The workshop has the format of 6 talks with commentaries, followed by discussion. Talks are planned for maximally 20 minutes, and commentaries for maximally 10.
The workshop takes place at the conference location (the VU Amsterdam main building,
in the A complex of teaching rooms,
