Thank you for your interest in becoming a Peer Educator with EMU's Safer Together program! Peer Educators will plan and facilitate campus programming related to sexual and relationship violence prevention. This could include, for example, trainings and workshops for students about healthy relationships, awareness events in Sexual Assault Awareness Month, presentations to classes about consent, or educating student groups about bystander intervention.
Five peer educators will work together as a team, along with Venissa White (Director of Safer Together, EMU's office of sexual and relationship violence prevention) to decide what activities to work on each semester. An 8-hour training will be provided at the beginning of the fall semester (August 2024).
The peer educator position is a volunteer position, but students who complete the full semester receive a $180 (pre-tax) stipend at the end of each semester. It is preferred if you can commit to a full academic year, but applications of students who are only available for one semester are also welcome.
Applications are now being accepted and interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis, with positions beginning at the start of the Fall 2024 semester.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Venissa at venissa.white@emu.edu
