Community First has secured a grant on behalf of the Hampshire’s CVS Network to continue our important work in supporting voluntary sector groups and residents facing difficulties because of COVID-19. This funding includes money for grants to support Transport Schemes and Good Neighbour groups in Hampshire, who we know are providing essential transport to the most vulnerable in our local communities.
This funding recognizes that each group is unique and has different needs, whist some may have continued throughout the pandemic, others may have paused for a while. The aim is to support all groups to provide safe transport for vulnerable people and for social care workers, volunteers and carers, with essential journeys to hospital, GP and vaccination appointments during the summer of 2021.
Round One of the funding has two elements:
£1,000 per group towards the cost of development, this can include coordination of volunteers, marketing of the current local transport offer or to support development and expansion to attract new volunteers and drivers
£500 towards the costs of journeys, this could include enabling you to transport those who may no be able to afford to pay, or to offer free journeys for vaccinations appointments.
Round Two of the funding will open in the Autumn, and will cover the cost of journeys to boost jab appointments
Each group may apply for both elements of the grant, or just one of them. If you have big plans and require more please do give us a call to discuss your needs. Call Mandy Harris on 07500 781 421 or email
Mandy.Harris@cfirst.org.uk The grant is part of the £480million Contain Outbreak Management Fund (COMF) given to local authorities by the Department of Health and Social Care to help reduce the spread of coronavirus and support local economies and public health.
Reporting- This will be a simple form to capture how the funding was used, with basic details about the difference it made, such as the number of new volunteers or the number of journeys undertaken
