Social Impact Scholars 2024 - Faculty Recommendation Form
To be completed by the faculty recommender.

Thank you for your willingness to recommend a student for the Social Impact Scholars Summer Internship Program. Please complete the form by Sunday, February 18, 2024. Your recommendation will be viewed by the selection committee only. You are encouraged to notify the applicant after you have completed this recommendation.

Overview of Social Impact Scholars (SIS):
Students in the SIS program have the opportunity to complete a full-time academic summer internship with a Twin Cities non-profit, for-profit, or public organization that is focused on public policy, social impact, community development, and/or sustainability. The SIS program expands on a typical academic internship experience by providing opportunities for ongoing personal and vocational reflection with fellow students, Piper Center staff, community leaders, and alumni. Participants will live together in suite-style rooms at the University of St. Thomas. They will learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives through community conversations, regular seminars, site visits, and ongoing informal conversation. Final presentations will challenge students to connect their internship experiences with their own classroom learning and vocational discernment.
