OVERVIEW OF ATRA GOALS FOR ANIMAL WELFARE

The Australasian Team Roping Association are and will continue to place high priority on Animal Welfare.

This online course is for ALL stock contractors who intend to supply stock to any ATRA EVENT nationally and will need to pass this course and be approved by the ATRA board to become an ATRA approved contractor.

They can only be run three times in a one-day Jackpot, and at a two or more day jackpot. Only two runs a day are permitted.

Can a stock Contractor be fined for mistreatment of livestock by the ATRA? *

No, not at all

Yes, as a Contractor, if you are found guilty of mistreatment of livestock, you may be fined by the Board of Directors up to $500

Can an ATRA Stock Contractor be fined for supplying unsuitable stock to an ATRA event? *

Stock contractors who supply stock for jackpots that are not suitable for an event may be fined the equivalent of the entire committee/stock levy paid for the particular event in which stock were unacceptable. Board of Directors to make final decision.

Stock contractors are to do the best they can to supply stock but sometimes it can’t be done to perfection

Anything that looks healthy enough

All stock need to meet relative State or Territory Animal Welfare Regulations as to size and weight for where the event is being held

Should all stock be inspected prior to draw and event? *

No, only when loaded on Truck going to Event

YES, Animals for all events will be inspected before the draw, and no sore, lame, sick, or injured animal, or animals with defective eyesight shall be permitted in the draw at any time. Should an animal become sick or injured between the time of inspection and prior to the commencement of an event, that animal shall not be used in competition
