About Us
Cuore are an internationally award-winning amateur Irish mixed-voice chamber choir. Our repertoire ranges from standard choral works to early music editions prepared by choir members and premieres of contemporary compositions written for the choir.

A typical choir year includes:
  • weekly rehearsals from September to early June
  • one or two weekend rehearsals a term
  • three or more concerts a year
  • a workshop with a vocal coach or visiting conductor
  • informal performances at Christmas
  • regular social events
  • a trip to a competition or festival in Ireland or abroad
If you are interested in fulfilling your choral ambitions, we would love to hear from you!

Voice Part *
Please select the voice part you are most comfortable singing. You don't need to be a soloist; we look for flexible voices with good intonation and the ability to blend with the choir.
Can you commit to regular rehearsals? *
Cuore rehearse in Dublin 2 on Thursday evenings from 7:30pm-9:40pm, with occasional sectional and weekend rehearsals (usually at most two weekend rehearsal days a term, plus performance days).

Joining a choir is much more like joining a team, than attending a class. Every person (and their voice!) is necessary and important. We have an attendance policy and ask that each member does their best to attend all rehearsals and events.
Required
Sight-singing (i.e. without playing your line) *
Cuore generally rehearse with limited use of a piano, and the level of musicianship is high. We prioritize strong sight-readers for our small number of vacancies.

Which of the following can you accurately, fluently and confidently sight-sing?
Your musical experience & training *
Please write a few sentences about your musical background.
  • When did you last sing with a choir?
  • What groups have you sung in recently? [Successful soprano and alto candidates have usually sung with high-level choirs in the last two years.]
  • Did you study voice or an instrument?
  • Do you have any musical qualifications?
Audition date/time? *
We typically audition on Thursday evenings during term time, or occasionally on Saturday mornings/afternoons.

Please indicate below which upcoming Thursday evenings (6-7pm) might suit you. Auditions take about 10 minutes.

Note that this does not guarantee an audition slot; we'll be in touch to confirm details.
Where did you hear about our auditions? *
From a choir member? From a friend? On Sing Ireland or the Journal of Music? On Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter? On a noticeboard? A search engine? Or somewhere else?

Due to the limited number of vacancies, we are not in a position to audition every applicant. We aim to respond to all applications within a week or so, but if for some reason you don't hear from us, please feel free to follow up with us by email to info@cuore.ie.

Auditions take about ten minutes and consist of the following:
  1. A brief chat about your musical background and your motivation for joining Cuore;
  2. Some range and ear tests;
  3. Singing a short extract from a prepared piece of your own choosing which demonstrates your voice to best advantage;
  4. Sight-singing a page or so from an unfamiliar choral piece, which we will give you a minute or two to look through.
Meanwhile, please follow @CuoreChoir on social media and explore our website, www.cuore.ie .
A copy of your responses will be emailed to the address you provided.
