Brain learning exercise - Classification
We provide below 9 study cases representing some typical situations of classification. Each case is depicted as a 9 two-dimensional plot blue and pink dots represent individuals belonging respectively to groups A or B. The coordinates of each point (X1 and Y2 variables) correspond to some features measured on the individuals.
The black dots numbered from 1 to 5 represent individuals of unknown class, for which the same features have been measured. Based on their position in the feature space, we ask you to intuitively assign each of them to a group.
Afterwards, we will ask you to explain which criteria were used to assign individuals to groups. Note that your criteria may change from study case to study case.
