COVID-19 and Hate Speech
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world has witnessed the rise in hate speech and discrimination against people based on ethnicity, nationality, refugee status. In this online seminar, Asia Centre will present its initial investigations into the phenomenon of hate speech in Southeast Asia. During the discussion with invited speakers and participants the seminar will examine how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected hate speech in Southeast? What has civil society’s and governments’ response to the issue?
