WHAT WE BELIEVE
We're glad you're interested in serving in the worship ministry at CCC!

As you continue prayerfully considering your involvement in the worship ministry, we’d like to clarify the commitment you are making should you join the team.

First and foremost, we believe that worship team members are not just musicians. We are ALL worship leaders.

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽:

If you are a bass player, your role is not just to pluck a few strings and fill in the low end. You are a worship leader!

If you are a percussionist, your role is not simply to hit a few drums and cymbals. You are a worship leader!

If you are a background vocalist, you don’t just sing harmony. You are a worship leader!

Because we are ALL worship leaders.

𝗔𝘁 CCC, 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀:

A worship leader is someone who seeks to point people to the goodness of God and provides the opportunity to respond to that truth.

So, no matter what MUSICAL role you fill in the worship ministry, we all share the same SPIRITUAL role.

𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆, 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝟱 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼:

𝟭. 𝗪𝗲 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵

The title worship leader reveals not only our mission but our position.

We are not just musicians in the church. We are LEADERS.

And that leadership extends to outside of Sunday mornings.

Should you join the worship ministry, people will recognize you as a leader in the church – not just on Sunday mornings – but at your workplace, when you’re shopping at the grocery store, and when you’re at your son or daughter’s school sports game.

That’s why it is so important that we represent the church well and seek to glorify God – not just on Sunday mornings – but in all areas of our lives.

That is not to say that there isn’t room for mistakes - thank God for the grace He provides on a daily basis! But, as leaders in the church, we will be held to a higher standard.

𝟮. 𝗪𝗲 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

Joining the worship ministry is not just a Sunday morning commitment.

As a team, it’s important that we put in the work ahead of time to make sure things flow as smoothly as possible on Sunday mornings.

When we prepare well, we are able to lead worship well.

(More on the specific expectations of preparation later…)

𝟯. 𝗪𝗲 𝗦𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘

God deserves our best. Therefore, we have a culture of constant improvement understanding that we’ve never “arrived.”

Members of the worship ministry are expected to have a TEACHABLE ATTITUDE understanding that there is always room for improvement.

We have a culture of constant evaluation – not for the sake of saying “look what you did wrong” but for the sake of learning how we can improve as a team.

𝟰. 𝗪𝗲 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀

A key leadership principle that Jesus sets forth in the Bible is servant leadership.

As leaders in the church, we are called to SERVE others in the church.

That means that we make decisions with them in mind FIRST.

Our song choices reflect not just what music we like, but what will best allow our church to worship in the specific season that they are in.

When we have a servant leadership focus – we fix problems we see without being asked. That could be as simple as picking up a piece of trash in the parking lot on the way into worship rehearsal. OR even helping a church member move into a new house.

Leaders SERVE others.

𝟱. 𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗙𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗬

As partners in the worship ministry, we are not simply a band of musicians.

We are a FAMILY.

Yes, families argue from time to time. Conflict arises. But, at the end of the day, we make a commitment to work with each other and love each other through any struggles for the benefit of the church.
WHAT TO EXPECT
As a member of the worship team, you will be held to the following expectations:
𝟭. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Email will be the primary means of communication. A call of text will still be used if it is more of an urgent need or response, we understand not everyone checks their email every hour.

You will be expected to check your email on a DAILY basis for scheduling updates, song set lists, and other information about the worship ministry.

𝟮. 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴

Scheduling for who will be serving on Sundays will be done in advance. This allows ample time to prepare and allows us to not be running around last-minute trying to figure out who is serving on Sunday.

You will NOT BE expected to serve every week but WILL BE expected to serve on a regular basis.

Please understand that if you are scheduled to serve, we are counting on you to fill your role. If a situation does arise where you become unavailable, please let the worship team leader know immediately.

𝟯. 𝗥𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

We hold a worship team rehearsal every week on Wednesday nights @ 7pm.

If you are scheduled to lead worship on Sunday, you will be expected to attend rehearsal on Wednesday night, unless having a conversation with the Worship Pastor in advance. We totally understand life happens we just want you to be in a position to feel well rehearsed and comfortable.

You will receive the worship set list for the Sunday you are leading at least a week before rehearsal so that you have plenty of time to learn your parts.

Please keep in mind that rehearsals are not a time to learn your individual parts – they are a run through of the service for Sunday. You will be expected to know your parts before you arrive at rehearsal.

In addition, we will hold a soundcheck/rehearsal on Sunday mornings @ 7:30am.

Additionally, we are unable to provide childcare during rehearsals at this time.

𝟰. 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰

In addition to knowing your parts and being prepared for rehearsal, you will be expected to have your music memorized when you lead on Sunday mornings.

While we have a confidence monitor, it is simply there for reference and not reliance.

Let us assure you: you CAN memorize your music!

Yes. It takes time and work. But, in the end, it will free you up to focus less on the MUSICAL side of leading worship and more on the SPIRITUAL side of leading worship.

If you are uncertain about music memorization, the worship team leader will work with you to help you get to a point where you can confidently memorize your music for Sundays.

𝟱. 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀

As a worship ministry member, you are first and foremost a CHURCH MEMBER.

While we do not have a strict system of keeping track of your church attendance, we want to see you participating in the life of the church on a regular basis.

We want to see you at church not just when you are scheduled to serve on the worship team.

In addition, we ask that you participate in the service fully – sitting under the teaching for the morning during the sermon. It is important for our church to know that worship team members aren’t just there to play music.
CODE OF CONDUCT
While all believers are expected to live a holy life (understanding that we will still make mistakes) - as leaders in the church, we are held to a higher standard.

As mentioned before, when you join the worship ministry and lead worship on Sundays, people identify you as a leader and representative of the church.

As you represent CCC throughout the week (not just on Sundays), there are a few key areas we want to be very specific about so that you aren’t forced to carry a conviction you do not agree with.
CONFLICT
While we strive to be a family as a worship team, we understand that sometimes disagreements happen. It’s inevitable! But the longer we wait to address those problems, the harder it will be to overcome them.

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴:

1. If a conflict or disagreement arises between you and another worship team member, please go to them one-on-one FIRST to find a solution.

2. If the conflict cannot be resolved by a one-on-one conversation, please bring it to the attention of the Worship Pastor immediately.

3. Understand that sacrifices and compromises must be made in ministry. In all things, seek to do what is best for the church.
SOCIAL MEDIA
We recognize that social media is an amazing means of communication and keeping in contact with friends, family, and other church members throughout the week.

However, we would like to remind you that people can and WILL see everything you post on social media. Whether you post something to your personal page, comment on someone else's post, or even like a post on Facebook; people can see it.

With that in mind, it is important to understand that you are representing the Church on social media.

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴:

1. Simple put: We ask that you view social media as a tool to further your ministry. Not every post has to be specifically related to ministry but nothing should be posted that HINDERS your ministry.

2. We believe that social media is rarely the most fruitful place to have difficult conversations. It is always best to have in person conversations especially when it comes to social and political issues.

3. We ask that you don’t post anything related to alcohol, drugs, or that contains offensive language.
DRESS CODE
This is going to look different at every church so I won't spend much time on the subject. The bottom line is we just really want you to think about those you are leading and how your level of modesty doesn't hinder that for you.

Some things to consider:
- Length of skirts/shorts
- Tightness of clothing
- Revealing clothing
- Cleanliness of attire (wrinkles, etc.)
- Brand names on clothing
- We livestream, so consider what may be distracting
- Footwear
- Ultimately, YOU probably know what would be acceptable.
