My name is Melissa Nelson, and I teach at New Hampton High School. I teach 9-12, and I have taught for five years. I have been a member of AEI since I was a pre-service teacher. I am passionate about AEI because as the single teacher in my building, I am often looking toward my AEI colleagues as they have become my support system. Each Art Educator in AEI has a built in family and support system of people who have the same issues, and have innovatively solved problems we all have. I have routinely presented at the AEI annual conferences, so if you have joined any of my presentations, thank you!
All of the amazing art educators I have met have helped me become a better teacher. I wish to serve in this position so I can pass that along to others what I have gained, and to learn even more from so many great educators.
