Have your say on community development needs in Heathfield.

Heathfield Partnership Trust Limited are running a consultation to give local residents and businesses the chance to shape potential development involving Heathfield Park.

Governors at Heathfield Community College (HCC) see an urgent need to improve the safety and sustainability of transport for students making the trip from the town to the College. A new cycle and footpath through the Heathfield Park is considered the most favourable option.

The current owners of Heathfield Park have agreed to consider this scheme alongside further enabling development providing that it is supported by the community and meets community needs. This is your chance to tell us what you feel these needs are and help shape the plans.

Do you have any other comments about including access to a refurbished Gibraltar Tower  as part of the scheme:

Investing in renewable energy installations (solar arrays, wind turbines and water turbines) in areas of the Park has the potential to contribute positively to covering the costs of lighting the path as well as making a net positive contribution to other community facilities like schools and public buildings

To what extent would you support installation of renewable energy facilities within Heathfield Park?

*
Strongly disagree
Strongly agree

How important is it that some of the benefit of these installations be passed back to local community facilities to improve sustainability and reduce running costs?

Do you have any other comments about renewable energy being a component of any new development within the Park:

Enabling Development

In order to fund construction of a path and restoration of Gibraltar Tower as a Community and visitor attraction it is necessary to generate funds from an “enabling development”.

This could include housing, commercial facilities and community/leisure facilities however it is an important consideration that this meets an identified need.

Housing

Local estate agents confirm there are two main areas of unmet housing need in Heathfield.

The first is the demand for purpose-built 1/2 bedroom starter homes available for sale. This could include options which enhance affordability - for example shared ownership. It could include a covenant that they be available first for local people who wish to stay in the area.

The second area of need is for 3/4 bedroom family homes available for long term secure rent. Outside local authority/housing association provision most rented properties are available for 6 or 12 months giving less security for families concerned with continuity of education for children

To what extent would you support housing development if it helped to meet one or more of the above identified needs?

*
Strongly disagree
Strongly agree

If you have any other ideas for the needs a housing development in Heathfield Park should meet to benefit the community please summarise them here:

Aside from housing development what other construction would you support within the Park environment on the basis that it would enhance community facilities or address community needs:

Do you have any other comments about the principle of development in Heathfield Park
