Deadline: Must be submitted to school by April 22, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
Qualifications: A parent council member shall be a parent, stepparent, foster parent, or legal guardian of a student attending the school during the council member’s term of office. A parent is ineligible if he/she is an employee or a relative of an employee (father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, son-in-law, daughter-in-law) of that school or the district central office. Also, a parent council member cannot serve if they are a local school board member or the spouse of a school board member.
The term of office for high school is 1 year. New members are required to attend 6 hours of training through KASC within a month of being elected. The school’s principal will help you set this session up.
There will be two (2) parent members eligible for election at Owsley County High School this year.
Parents/legal guardians may nominate themselves and/or another parent of OCES (both parents/legal guardian must be a parent in the upcoming school year at OCES.
*Note: This year the election will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be voting centers located within the school lobbies of either school (OCES & OCHS) building this year. This should make it more convenient for parents who do not want to travel to both schools to do their voting. Parents can take advantage of voting for one or both SBDM Parents elections from one single location.
