Hello! The purpose of this form is to collect & group testimonies of defective, abnormally-loud fans in the Steam Deck units that have been shipped to customers so far.

If your Steam Deck's fan has a "high-pitch whine" that is of disturbing volume, please fill out this form. And even if it doesn't, please fill in details regarding your non-faulty fans!

We are trying to investigate which serial numbers correspond to these fan issues. There are no identifying questions (though you can fill more optional data if you wish). All of this information will solely be used to diagnose the "high-pitch whine" issues related to the Steam Deck fans.

We love the Deck. We are not here to bash the product - some of us just didn't get the Steam Deck experience we were looking forwards to after watching press reviews & dev kit footage... and we are trying to understand why, and maybe even figure out a solution.

This research is maintained by Toikka#0451 on Discord (/u/Toikka on Reddit). All results will be published anonymously afterwards, and relayed to Valve. The goal is to reach a comment from Valve on these issues.
