The College of Natural Resources is excited to invite applicants to be part of the 2nd cohort of the James Buzzard Leadership Development program for the 2024/25 academic year.
This leadership development program is limited to a cohort of no more than 18 students from across the college. Successful applicants will be part of a select cohort that will provide students with personalized leadership opportunities and experiences. This will include access to personalized professional leadership coaches, opportunities to meet and engage with industry leaders, field trips, a community mentor, resources for professional development opportunities as well as other leadership opportunities designed to provide these Buzzard fellows with the practical knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to be an effective leader.
Participation in the program is limited to the following:
- Preference to juniors and seniors but sophomores with leadership experience will be considered.
- Applicants must be willing to commit to the program for the full academic year (August, 2024 – May, 2025) with meetings every other week (approximately a 2-3 hour commitment per week).
- Students must have a minimum of 2.7 GPA (as of Fall 2023) and a demonstrated interest in developing their leadership skills. Applicants will be selected based on the application below. Responses to the essay questions can either be typed or uploaded in a video format.
The deadline to submit the application to be considered is Friday March 8th, 2024 at 5pm.

Applicants will be notified by Friday, March 29th, 2024 of their acceptance to the James Buzzard Leadership program. Participation is limited, so those interested are encouraged to apply early!
