SoundBio Education & Outreach Committee Application
Science education is a core part of SoundBio's mission and we want to do more of it. We need enthusiastic and talented people to create and oversee the delivery of amazing educational programs.

Join the educational programming chair Orlando de Lange and our committee members in creating and delivering SoundBio's workshops, courses, mentoring and other programing. Share your ideas, learn new things, meet new people and give back to your community! If that sounds like something you'd like to be involved with then sign up below.

Our values:
Our committee is dedicated to equity. We acknowledge that STEM is not a neutral force in the world. Science has been used for centuries to legitimize violence and oppression of Black, Indigenous, non-White, Queer people and women for centuries. That legacy has not disappeared nor does science represent or benefit people equitably. We believe in the power of science and technology to be outlets for human curiosity and tools for positive transformation.

Our committee also acknowledges that SoundBio Lab is on the unceded indigenous land.

Committee expectations:
5-10 hours of work per month on average.
Whole committee meetings once per month, additional meetings for program working groups as needed.
Respond to direct questions sent via Slack or Email promptly (within 2 days whenever possible)
Expectation to be working on the design or delivery of at least one event or on-going program at any given time.
   Dedication to equity in sciecnce

If you know you can't commit then your best option is to stay subscribed to the SoundBio volunteers mailing list (https://sound.bio/volunteer) and look out for one-off volunteering opportunities.
