Welcome and Description of Process!
Thank you for your interest in Aquatics Campus Recreation. We're thrilled to hear you want to join our unit! Please read the below with how the process works for obtaining your FREE Lifeguard Certification and some things to be aware of.

Firstly, it's important to know that successful students will sign a Campus Recreation contract, stating that they will work 20 hours per quarter (2 hours/week). The Aquatics Unit operates up to 12 hours a day, so this is very easy to achieve.

Secondly, let's look at the process.

Step 1. Submit this form, answering questions of your interests and why you'd like to join our unit.
Step 2. Successful applicants will be invited to an interview and water test at the UC Davis Rec Pool.
Step 3. Successful applicants will be offered a spot in the Lifeguard Certification Class.
Step 4. If you pass the lifeguard class, you will be offered a position in the Aquatics Unit of Campus Recreation.

Third, this class will be geared towards those who are able to work Fall 2022. The position would have a start time of Fall quarter 2022 and employment would continue from there.

Again, just to re-iterate, this application is for students who wish to work for the Aquatics Unit in Campus Recreation, but do not have the means to go through a lifeguard class.

THE DATE OF THE CERTIFICATION CLASS IS 9/10/22 - 9/11/22

IF YOU ARE ALREADY CERTIFIED IN AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARDING, PLEASE EMAIL THE AQUATICS UNIT WITH YOUR CERTIFICATION AND RESUME ATTACHED. Certified lifeguards do not need to complete this form.

If you have questions before filling out this application, please email aquatics@campusrec.ucdavis.edu.

Thanks!
